MA Rink Closing
Dear Sting Families, The State of Massachusetts has put a two week hold on all youth and recreation ice hockey games and practices starting October 23 rd at 5pm and extending to midnight November 7 th. This is Covid related and I can’t speculate on what metric was used to make this decision. Hopefully we will be back up and running in two weeks, in time to start up our learn to skate program. In the mean time the board will work with FMC to make sure that the systems in place in Gardner to avoid crowding of players getting dressed and waiting to get onto the ice is more efficient and actually makes sense. I appreciate everyone’s efforts to follow the guidelines and make the sacrifices so the kids can practice and play the game. We get that you are paying for this and in many cases volunteering your time and then additionally being asked to monitor the safety situation. Though a few rinks have been great and hired additional staff it is clear that most have not and the rinks and league largely expect the customers to enforce all the rules. I can only encourage you to continue to do what you can to be safe and keep our kids on the ice once the rinks open up again. We are all disappointed, but I for one will be spending the next two weeks to make sure we come back in the best shape possible, and work to make sure that systems at our own rink are consistent, easy to follow and actually do what they are intended to do. Hello Everyone!

Learn to Skate (LTS) and Learn to Hockey (LTH) registrations are now open! These programs are for new skaters ages 4 and up!

Both programs are going to run consecutively on the same ice observing proper Covid-19 guidelines with separation between the two programs. This means you must choose between  Basic Skating Instruction or Basic Hockey Instruction when signing up for a session.

  • LTS - has a maximum cohort of 20 kids per session
  • LTH has a maximum cohort of 22 kids per session

Because of cohort restrictions, we are strictly limited to a maximum number of players and coaches on the ice. Registration is open to first come first serve and we are keeping waitlists for both programs if there is a player who drops.

Session 1 of LTS & LTH starts 11/08/2020 @ 8am and runs 6 weeks every Sunday morning.

Session 2 of LTS & LTH starts 12/20/2020 @ 8am and runs 6 weeks every Sunday morning.

All sessions are at Gardner Veterans Arena, Gardner MA.

Cost is $60 per session (6 week program)

All players are to arrive at the rink fully dressed except for skates. FMC will have an area by the bleachers to help your player get their skates on. Per FMC guidelines, only one guardian/parent per player is allowed to watch the lesson. Spectators will sit in the bleachers 6' apart.

FMC is also asking not to congregate in the lobby area.

Masks are required for everyone inside the building. Kids on the ice are also encouraged to wear a cloth facemask under their helmet cages or face shields.

If you have any questions please feel free to email
